فِي حُسْنِ هَاتِيكِ الْقَطَائِفْ
Do you blame me, O my reproacher,
Do you blame me, O reproacher
Do you blame me, O my censurer,
For the beauty of those velvet carpets?
For the beauty of these gazelles
For the beauty of those velvety Qatayef,

And the birds, since these appeared to them,
When the birds since they appeared to him
When the bird, since they appeared to it,
Sing and call upon the spreading trees,
Chirp on the hills calling
Sings upon the great trees, calling aloud,

Warbling in passionate love for them,
Singing enchanted by them
Chanting in deep infatuation with them,
Exultant, engrossed in joy.
Enraptured by joy steadfast
Joyous, devoted entirely to delights,

And the branch nodded, bowing
And the branch bowed down
And the branch has nodded, bowing down
To their beauty, supple in its bends.
To their beauty gently swaying
To their beauty, supple in its curving bends.

Spring cast off its bridle
Spring has shed its cover
Spring has cast off its bridle
Among them, excelling in delicate wonders:
And excelled in crafting beauty
Amidst them, thus crafting wondrous subtleties,

Vomiting forth their yellow blossoms,
Adorned with its blossoms
Spewing forth its yellow daisies,
Bleeding Nuʿmān’s anemones from its nose;
With anemones proliferating
And bleeding crimson with anemones,

What lies between yellow ripened
Between a bright and vivid yellow
And red, with tender blooms to pluck,
In red fresh picked
And a red of freshly plucked blooms,

Amid luxuriant green,
Amidst green lush
Amidst a lush and ripening green
Stealing the eyes’ glances.
For the beholder's eyes seizing
Snatching away the gazing eyes.

Turn aside to them, for in them lies
Stroll by them for with them
Stop by them, for indeed within them
What has delighted the gentle, lovesick lover,
Most wondrous is the youth flirting
Is what astounds the tender lover,

And the sun embroiders their surface
With its gold, like the patterning of striped cloaks.
With its radiance tracing the outlines
With its pure gold, like the embroidery of rich cloaks.
