لكمyou have حجابٌa barrier ولناand we have أنفُسٌsouls
لكم حجابٌ ولنا أنفُسٌ
تمنعُناprotect us from الذلَّhumiliation عزيزاتُdignified
تمنعُنا الذلَّ عزيزاتُ
You have a barrier, and we have souls,
You have veils, and we have souls
Dignified souls that protect us from humiliation.
That keep us from disgrace, O glorious ladies.
تاهَhe grew haughty وتهناand we grew proud فسَمَوناso we rose high بهاthrough them
تاهَ وتهنا فسَمَونا بها
وهْيand they عنِfrom الذلِّhumiliation مصوناتُsafeguarded
وهْي عنِ الذلِّ مصوناتُ
He grew haughty, and we grew proud; through them we rose high,
Lost and degraded we may be, yet we are exalted by them,
And they are safeguarded from humiliation.
For they are protected from dishonor.
