طويتَ بسيطَ آمالي برفدٍ
كفانيspared me the need أنْto أُؤمِّلَhope for ماanything سواهُother than it
كفاني أنْ أُؤمِّلَ ما سواهُ
You folded up my outspread hopes with a gift
You folded my simple hopes in abandonment,
That spared me the need to hope for anything else.
It is enough for me to hope for what remains.
أقولُI say وقدand already طويتُI folded up بهwith it رجائيmy hope
أقولُ وقد طويتُ به رجائي
ليطوِlet him fold up كذاlike this رجائيmy hope مَنْwhoever طواهُfolded it up
ليطوِ كذا رجائي مَنْ طواهُ
