إذاwhen أُولِيَhe was granted النُّعمىa favor دعاhe prayed to اللهGod أنthat يرىhe might see
إذا أُولِيَ النُّعمى دعا الله أن يرى
بأصحابهاbefalling its benefactors يومa day اختبارthe testing of الصنائعkindnesses
بأصحابها يوم اختبار الصنائع
Whenever bounty is bestowed upon him, he prays God to let him see
When granted a favor, he prayed to God that he might see
what befalls its bestowers on the day acts of kindness are put to the test.
Its benefactors face a day that puts kindnesses to the test.
فللهso, by God ماhow أغناهمfree of need they are عنof جزائهhis repayment
فلله ما أغناهم عن جزائه
إذاif كانit is مقروناًcoupled بيومwith a day الفجائعcalamities
إذا كان مقروناً بيوم الفجائع
By God, how little need they have of his recompense
So, by God, how well they can do without his repayment,
when it comes bound to a day of calamities!
If it is coupled with a day of calamities!
