بكت شجوها الدنيا فلما تبيَّنتْ

بكت شجوها الدنيا فلما تبيَّنتْ

مكانَك منها استبشرت وتَغَنَّتِ

مكانَك منها استبشرت وتَغَنَّتِ

The world wept its sorrow; then, when it discerned

The world wept for her sorrows, but when

your place within it, it rejoiced and sang.

It saw your place in it, it rejoiced and sang praise,

لتَسْتَمْتِعِ الدنيا بوجهك دهرَها

لتَسْتَمْتِعِ الدنيا بوجهك دهرَها

فقد طالما اشتاقت إليك وحَنَّتِ

فقد طالما اشتاقت إليك وحَنَّتِ

Let the world delight in your countenance throughout its lifetime,

So that the world may delight in your face forever,

for it has long yearned for you and pined.

For so long has it yearned for you and lamented.
