جُعلتْ لنا بركاتُه في طولهِ
The month of fasting is blessed, but
The month of fasting is blessed, but
its blessings for us have been placed in its length.
Its blessings for us are in its length

ممدودِه ممطولهِ موصولهِ
Travel in thought through its far-reaching span—
Let your mind travel far away from it
stretched out, drawn out, unbroken.
Extended, prolonged, connected

عني بجدع الأنف قبلَ دخولهِ
Whoever may be fond of it—how about its departure
Whoever was accustomed to it, how can they leave
from me, its nose cut off, before its arrival?
Tearing themselves away like pulling out a nose hair before its entry

Indeed, the fullness of its crescent delights me,
I really like the fullness of its crescent
and after its fullness, I rejoice in its thinning.
And I secretly rejoice after its completion with its disappearance

A month that bars a man from his drink—
A month that prevents a person from their drink
from what is lawful for him—and from his food.
Of what is permitted to them, and from their food

I seek no reward for accepting its fast;
I do not expect reward for accepting its fasting
its passing is reward enough for accepting it.
It is enough for me to endure it - the reward of its acceptance
