The anemones on his grave said—
His grave’s anemones said,
and many a mute can speak—
Though a mute for God’s sake spoke:
فارتقتَهُunclear as written; likely 'you parted from him' (فارقتَهُ) ولزمتُهُand I stayed by him
فارتقتَهُ ولزمتُهُ
فأناso I am الشقيقthe full brother الصادقُtrue
فأنا الشقيق الصادقُ
“You parted from him [probable reading], while I stayed by him;
‘You surmounted him and clung to him;
so I am the true brother.”
So I’m the anemone sincere.’
