فيin عُرضthe midst of شعرٍverse نَقيِّpure
في عُرض شعرٍ نَقيِّ
People do not object to jest
People do not deny some jest
Amid pure verse;
In lines of poetry so chaste
قدmay يضرطfart الشعرُthe verse حيناًsometimes
قد يضرط الشعرُ حيناً
فيinto لحيةِthe beard of البيهقيِّal-Bayhaqi
في لحيةِ البيهقيِّ
Verse may sometimes fart
Poetry might fart at times
Into al-Bayhaqi's beard.
