زعم الناسُ خالداً بَغّاءَ

كَذَبوا القولَ وافْتَرَوْهُ افتراءَ

People claimed Khalid was a passive sodomite.

They accused Khaled of being licentious,

They lied in their claim and fabricated it outright.

Their words were lies and pure slander.

إنما صادفوه يَلْمَس غُرمو

لاً فواراه في استِهِ استحياءَ

They merely came upon him touching a penis,

They just happened upon him touching a boy,

so he hid it in his anus out of shame.

Who out of shyness drew away from his hand.

فلَحَوْه فيه فصار لجَاجاً

فلَحَوْه فيه فصار لجَاجاً

وهو شيخٌ يُراغِم الأعداءَ

وهو شيخٌ يُراغِم الأعداءَ

So they reproached him for it, and he grew obstinate.

So they assumed the worst of him,

And he is an old man who defies his enemies.

Though he is a sheikh who defies his foes.

فلْيكفُّوا عن الجِدال وإلا

فلْيكفُّوا عن الجِدال وإلا

فليكونوا له إذاً نُظراءَ

فليكونوا له إذاً نُظراءَ

So let them cease their wrangling; otherwise,

Let them cease their disputes, else

let them then be his equals.

They'll find themselves as his equals.
