فإنكfor indeed you ماnot أوحشتyou made lonely حينwhen تركتهاyou left it
فإنك ما أوحشت حين تركتها
نديماًa drinking companion ولاnor أوجدتَyou made feel فقدكyour absence فاقداone who misses you
نديماً ولا أوجدتَ فقدك فاقدا
For when you left it, you did not sadden
You made it not lonely when you left it
a drinking companion, nor make anyone feel your absence.
A companion, nor made your loss be felt as loss
لماsurely what زادhas increased فيamong الشربthe drinkers الذيwhom قدalready تركتهyou have left
لما زاد في الشرب الذي قد تركته
منof الراحwine خيرٌbetter منكthan you فيamong الشربthe drinkers زائداas an addition
من الراح خيرٌ منك في الشرب زائدا
Surely the surplus among the drinkers you have left—
Since what increased of joy which you have left
the wine—is a better addition to their company than you.
