يا من يسائل عن عشيرة خالدٍ

الناس كلُّهمُ عشيرة ذاكا

الناس كلُّهمُ عشيرة ذاكا

O you who ask about Khalid’s clan,

O you who ask about the tribe of Khalid

All people are that man’s clan.

All people are his tribe

فمتى هجوْتَ أبا الوليد هَجَوْتَهُم

فمتى هجوْتَ أبا الوليد هَجَوْتَهُم

وهَجَوْتَ في عُرْض الهجاء أباكا

وهَجَوْتَ في عُرْض الهجاء أباكا

So whenever you lampoon Abu al-Walid, you lampoon them,

So when you satirize Abul Walid you satirize them

And in the course of the satire, you lampoon your own father.

And in the act of satire you satirize your father
