أيهاO you المُنْصِفُthe just one إلاexcept رجُلاًa man
أيها المُنْصِفُ إلا رجُلاً
واحداًa single one أصبحتَyou have become ممنamong those who ظلمَهْwronged him
واحداً أصبحتَ ممن ظلمَهْ
O you who are just to all but a man—
O just man, except for one
a single man—you have become one of those who wronged him.
You have become like those who wronged him
كيفhow تَرْضَىdo you accept العُسْرَhardship خِدناًas a companion لامرئٍfor a man
كيف تَرْضَى العُسْرَ خِدناً لامرئٍ
وهْوwhile he لاnot يرضىis content لكfor you الدُّنياthe world أمَهْa female slave
وهْو لا يرضى لك الدُّنيا أمَهْ
How can you accept hardship as a companion for a man
How can you accept hardship as a bosom friend
who would not be content with even the world as your handmaid?
When he would not accept the world as a mother to you
