O son of her who, when asked
About the pregnancy that had become plain in her,
About what was evident of her pregnancy,

Would say, “Winds,” though she was lying,
Said it was the winds, and she was lying,
And explained it away with excuses,

His lineage cast in haste.

She was not given a proper dowry or married
At that time, in jewels or fine robes.
At that time, with jewelry or garments.
أتُرىdo you suppose الرياحَthe winds تحولَّتْturned into حَبلاًpregnancy
أتُرى الرياحَ تحولَّتْ حَبلاً
إنّindeed الرياحَthe winds لجمَّةُindeed full of النُّقلِtransformations
إنّ الرياحَ لجمَّةُ النُّقلِ
Do you suppose the winds have turned into pregnancy?
Do you think the winds turned into a pregnancy?
Indeed, the winds are full of transformations.
Verily the winds are the carriers of burdens.

Is the shame of the age and the blemish of dynasties.
Is the shame of time and disgrace of fortunes.
