ياO لقومٍto a people لأحمدon account of Ahmad بنson of بُنانٍBunan
يا لقومٍ لأحمد بن بُنانٍ
ولماand at what قالhe said منof عجيبastonishing المقالِspeech
ولما قال من عجيب المقالِ
O people, marvel at Ahmad ibn Bunan,
O people of Ahmed bin Bunan
and at the astonishing words he spoke!
And what he said of the wondrous words
قالhe said لمَّاwhen اشترىhe bought غلاماًa male slave كفاهُspared him
قال لمَّا اشترى غلاماً كفاهُ
كثرةَabundance of الغُرمexpense واكتراءَand hiring الرجالِthe men
كثرةَ الغُرم واكتراءَ الرجالِ
He said, when he bought a male slave who spared him
He said when he bought a boy as a servant for him
great expense and the hiring of men:
The abundant debts and borrowing of men
صنتُI protected ماليmy wealth عنfrom الفسادِruin بماليwith my wealth
صنتُ مالي عن الفسادِ بمالي
حانthe time has come ليfor me أنto أصونَI protect ماليmy wealth بماليwith my wealth
حان لي أن أصونَ مالي بمالي
"I protected my wealth from ruin with my wealth;
I protected my money from corruption with my money
the time has come for me to protect my wealth with my wealth."
It was time for me to protect my money with my money
كانhe used to يستدخلُtake into himself الأيورthe penises حراماًunlawfully
كان يستدخلُ الأيور حراماً
فاستعفَّso he became chaste الفتىthe young man بأيرٍwith a penis حلالِlawful
فاستعفَّ الفتى بأيرٍ حلالِ
He used to take cocks into himself unlawfully,
He would bring forbidden income
so the young man became chaste with a lawful cock.
So the young man exempted himself with legal income
