ليس مستحسِناً لك المطلَ والخُلْ

ليس مستحسِناً لك المطلَ والخُلْ

فَ سِوَى من يراكَ مثلَ الغَواني

فَ سِوَى من يراكَ مثلَ الغَواني

None finds your delay and promise-breaking commendable,

It is not praiseworthy for you to be fickle and aloof,

except one who sees you as resembling beautiful women.

Except for one who sees you like an infatuated lover.

يَقْبحُ الصِّدْقُ بالغَواني لأمْرٍ

يَقْبحُ الصِّدْقُ بالغَواني لأمْرٍ

هُنَّ فيه إذا صدقْن زواني

هُنَّ فيه إذا صدقْن زواني

Truthfulness ill becomes beautiful women, for a reason:

Sincerity is unseemly for an infatuated lover because of something -

in that matter, if they keep their word, they are fornicators.

They are coquettes if they are sincere, impostors.
