No one who made merry at Mihrjan was worthier
None was more inclined to revelry
of merriment there than Ibn Yahya.
At the festival than Ibn Yahya
لأنهbecause he شابَهُhe mingled it بجودٍwith generosity
أحياhe gave life to بهthrough it الناسَthe people كلَّevery مَحْياlife
For he mingled it with generosity
For he resembled generosity
through which he gave the people life in every way.
With which he enlivened all the living

The Prophet's era was renewed by goodness
He renewed the covenant of the Prophet
from Ibn Yahya and excellence in piety;
Through the virtue of Ibn Yahya and his pious excellence

And the covenant of Chosroes, the life of pleasure
from Ibn Kisra and delightful diversion.
Through the son of Chosroes and the beauty of his pastime

يجمعُcombines ديناًreligion لهfor him ودُنياand worldly life
Thus at Mihrjan there remained a feast
So he remained at the festival a feast day
uniting religion and worldly life for him.
That brought together for him religion and worldly life

And it is neither novel nor strange
And it is no novelty or wonder
that one meaning should bind the two meanings together.
That meaning should compose the two meanings
فاللَّهُso God يُبقيهkeeps him alive ألفَa thousand عامٍyears
وماand as long as رأىHe sees فيin البقاءcontinued life بُقْياmercy
So may God keep him alive for a thousand years,
So may God make him live a thousand years
and as long as He sees mercy in continued life.
And he has not seen in living any remainder

His good fortune lifts him, and he prospers;
At times his grandfather ascends through him and attains eminence
and at other times his glory lifts him, and he rises high.
And at other times his glory rises high

And his enemies' eyes have never ceased
And the eyes of the enemy have not ceased
to smart at God's blessing upon him.
By God's blessing to be hurt through him

He is shielded by them from death's arrows
By him the arrows of death are warded off
when they descend upon him, and he is ransomed.
When they afflict him, and he is ransomed
