اكتَهلتْ همَّتي فأصبحتُ لا
أبهَجُI delight بالشيءin the thing كنتI used to أبهجُI delight بِهْin it
أبهَجُ بالشيء كنت أبهجُ بِهْ
My ambition has reached middle age, and I no longer
My aspiration is now complete, so I
delight in what I once delighted in.
No longer rejoice in what I used to rejoice in.
وحسبُand sufficient for منone who عاشhas lived منof خُلُوقَتِهِhis wearing out
وحسبُ من عاش من خُلُوقَتِهِ
خُلوقَةٌa wearing out تعتريهِovertakes him فيin أرَبِهْhis desire
خُلوقَةٌ تعتريهِ في أرَبِهْ
And for one who has lived, a sufficient sign of his wearing out
It is enough for one who lives to have
is the wear that overtakes him in his desire.
A nature that comes over him in his time of need.
