May God have mercy on Salih ibn Wasif;
May God have mercy on Salih bin Wasif
for he was indeed a truly gallant, refined man.
For he was indeed very noble and refined
كانhe used to لاnot يصطفيchoose المخنَّثthe effeminate man خدناًas a close companion
بلrather يراهhe regarded him مثلlike الكنيفthe privy المجيفfoul-smelling
He would not choose an effeminate man as a close companion,
He would not choose an effeminate as a boon companion
but regarded him as a foul-smelling privy.
Rather he saw him like chaff that was winnowed

A band whose nearness to people is scabies
A company who are despised by decent people
for the healthy, and filth for the clean.
While the wholesome is impure to the virtuous

So forcefully drive the effeminate men away from you,
So drive away the effeminate decisively
and let every honorable man be charged with that.
And let that task be for every gentleman
