Many a fair-necked maiden
Many a free girl walks with the gait of a sturdy lad,
Struts in the garb of a beardless youth,
Swaying in the dress of a frolicking youth,

Just approaching puberty—or seemingly already there—
As soon as she felt the first flush of passion,
If you do not detect a sway in her walk.
Or as though she never touched the ground in her walk.

Lissome, from the waters of supple youth,
She sways supple as a branch of youth's sapling,
As though she gazes with the eyes of a wild cow's calf.
As if she is glancing with the eyes of a fawn,

Fair-skinned, neither pallid nor gaunt,
White, unblemished by the yellowness of sickness,
Her thick black hair beats against both sides of her back,
Striking her neck with black tresses,

Reaching down to her heaped-up dune.
Clustered like bunches of ripened dates,
She clothes with necklaces of pearl and peridot
Adorned with necklaces of pearl and ruby,

A throat like a palace of smoothly polished marble.
With a throat like an edifice of polished marble
I tussled with her; she did not fend me off with her hand,
I confronted her, but she did not confront me with her hand,

But with her legs, and she showed no ill temper.
Rather with her legs, and she did not waver,
So I spent the night with her, securely seated,
So I remained still, resigned to my seat,

Piercing her haunches with a stiff, hairless penis,
Suspecting that next to her was a hairy monkey,
Compact and rounded, like a tightly twisted well-rope,
Disheveled like harvested heads of millet,

Returning often to women like her, well practised,
Persistently courting the likes of her, accustomed,
In the house of a Tayyite of noble lineage,
In a lofty ornate house, honorable assembly,

Generous with his two wives, forbearing in company.
Tolerant in his wedding, forbearing in his spectacle.
Khalid, O possessor of firmly established eminence,
Enduring Khaled, O source of glory abounding,

How much do you have with me of hands that did not fail you,
Praising you for your most glorious deeds.
Who praise you for your most glorious deeds.
