أضحتْshe became حَلِيلةُwife خالدKhalid
أضحتْ حَلِيلةُ خالد
ذَلَّwas humbled اللسانthe tongue بحمدِهاin praising her
ذَلَّ اللسان بحمدِها
Khalid's wife has become such
Khalid's companion has become weak
that the tongue bows in praise of her.
His tongue has become accustomed to praising her
عَمَّتْshe extended to all أيُورَcocks النائكيthe fuckers (continued)
عَمَّتْ أيُورَ النائكي
نَending completing 'the fuckers' بِنَيْلهاwith her bounty وبرفْدِهاand with her aid
نَ بِنَيْلها وبرفْدِها
She favored all the fuckers' cocks
The homes of the wailers have been filled
with her bounty and her aid.
With her generosity and kindness
شفعتshe interceded إليهمwith them فيon behalf of عُمْيʿUmay- (start of ʿUmayra)
شفعت إليهم في عُمْي
رَة-ra (completes ʿUmayra) فانتهوْاso they ceased عنfrom جَلْدِهاflogging her
رَة فانتهوْا عن جَلْدِها
She interceded with them for ʿUmayra,
She interceded on behalf of the blind
so they ceased flogging her.
And they stopped beating her
أغْنتهُمُshe spared them the need عنfor ذاكthat لاmay … not
أغْنتهُمُ عن ذاك لا
ذاقواthey taste (in a wish) مرارةbitterness فقدهاlosing her
ذاقوا مرارة فقدها
She spared them that—may they never
She made them needless of that
taste the bitterness of losing her.
They did not taste the bitterness of losing her
