إذا مضى الرمحُ بذَلقِ نَصْلِهِ
Karawwas penetrates with the strength of his root,
A crow still goes by its own pasture
As the spear penetrates with the sharp point of its blade.
When a spear goes by its polished blade

فطحاءُ يمضي مثلها بمثلِهِ
Upon him squats a glans of matching shape,
A resemblance of its shape falls on it
Broad and flat—one like it penetrates with one like him.
An open desert still goes on by its likeness
