كأنّ أباه حين واقع أمَّه

كأنّ أباه حين واقع أمَّه

أتاها وفي إحليله كُوزُ بَلْغَمِ

أتاها وفي إحليله كُوزُ بَلْغَمِ

It is as though his father, when he lay with his mother,

As if when his father came upon his mother,

came to her with a jug of phlegm in his urethra;

He brought in his lap a cup of wormwood -

فجاءت به قرداً قبيحاً مقبَّحاً

فجاءت به قرداً قبيحاً مقبَّحاً

على ما به من قلَّة وتَبظْرُمِ

على ما به من قلَّة وتَبظْرُمِ

so she bore him—an ugly, hideous ape—

So she bore him an ugly, cursed ape

with all his littleness and arrogance besides.

For the meanness and wretchedness in him.
