Isa's dining table is made from half a lupin seed,
The bread of Jesus is made of half a lupine seed
and his two dishes from the two halves of a lentil.
And its two sheets are made of two lentil shells

من شاء لا ذاك حظ من نَفِسَهْ
That is God's bounty, which He bestows
That is the grace of God that He bestows
on whomever He wills—no such lot for one who envies him.
On whom He wills, not from his own essence

تخفى على العين فهْي مُلتمسَهْ
His flatbreads are a speck of a speck,
From a tiny seed, His bread
hidden from the eye, so they must be sought out.
Is hidden from the eye, though it seeks it

If sifted through silk, they would slip
If it was sifted with silk, it would seep
through the gaps in the weave, unhindered.
Through the fabric's gaps, not held back

When you seize a loaf as prey, he groans over it,
When you grab the loaf, it seems
as though a lion there had devoured him.
A lion has grabbed it there and torn it

Then, when you begin to eat it,
Until when you start eating it
he heaves a sigh from sheer anguish.
It sends up from intense sorrow a sigh

As if each morsel you ate
were wrested from his hands and snatched away.
Was stolen from his hands by force

Heedless of his womenfolk's affairs,
Oblivious of the affairs of his forgetfulness
he stations his guards over his bread-store.
Debased at the house guarding his bread

The neighbor borrows a light from his fire, and he sees
The neighbor lights his fire, and sees
the fire of his two guiding lamps being borrowed.
The light of his own lamp lit from it

And if he ever sees or senses
And if he saw or felt a while
smoke from his neighbor's fire, he raids him.
The smoke of a fire, he would snuff it out
