رُمْتُ نداكم يا بني طاهرٍ

رُمْتُ نداكم يا بني طاهرٍ

فرمتُ مُخَّ الذَّرِّ في عُسْرَتِهْ

فرمتُ مُخَّ الذَّرِّ في عُسْرَتِهْ

I sought your generosity, O sons of Tahir;

I cast your alliance away, O sons of Tahir,

so I sought the marrow of tiny ants in their poverty.

I cast the brains of the insignificant one in his misery.

أمَّلْتُ منْ رفد سُلَيْمانِكُمْ

أمَّلْتُ منْ رفد سُلَيْمانِكُمْ

ما أمَّلَ المعتزُّ مِنْ نُصْرَتِهْ

ما أمَّلَ المعتزُّ مِنْ نُصْرَتِهْ

From your Sulayman’s bounty, I hoped for

I hoped for support from your Solomon,

what al-Muʿtazz hoped for from his support.

What al-Mu'tazz hoped for from his support.
