I shall cool my breast by doing good,

And rid my shoulders of the weight of sins.

    ولَلْإحسانُ آنسُ للقلوبِ

    And I do good, not for your benefit but for mine;

And indeed kindness is more comforting to hearts.

When souls recall their acts of kindness,

They recover from wrestling with sorrows.

And the safest a man can ever be

Is when he clothes himself in caution against calamities.

Things have returned after turning away,

And a sun has risen after setting.

And whoever has a spear and sword as his reserve—

But God's aid is my reserve for wars.
