أرى المُفَنِّدَ يَنْهانِي ويأْمُرُني

أرى المُفَنِّدَ يَنْهانِي ويأْمُرُني

بقوله استحْيِ إنَّ الشيبَ قد حانا

بقوله استحْيِ إنَّ الشيبَ قد حانا

I see the reprover forbidding me and commanding me,

The censurer warns and orders me

saying, “Have shame—gray hair has already arrived.”

Saying, Have shame, for gray hair has come upon you

الآن حين أجَدَّ الشيبُ يَطلبُني

الآن حين أجَدَّ الشيبُ يَطلبُني

أبادرُ الشَّيبَ باللذَّاتِ عجلانا

أبادرُ الشَّيبَ باللذَّاتِ عجلانا

Now, when gray hair has grown intent on pursuing me,

Now when I find gray hair is after me

I hasten to forestall gray hair with pleasures.

I rush to take my pleasures hastily
