I saw your good father draw from his own name

your name for you, when the midwives said, “Faris.”

You dawned upon him on the day you were fully formed—a dawning

blessed, attended by no ill omens.

So when he saw in you unalloyed nobility,

he clothed you, among names, in the one he himself wears.

And he added a letter for you, which no discerning person sees

as setting your two names apart; rather, it harmonizes them.

You two have drawn close in your names, just as

you are in essence, whenever someone makes a comparison.
