إني لأستحيي المكارمَ أن أرى

مالاً يُصان وحُرَّ وجهٍ يبتَذَلْ

مالاً يُصان وحُرَّ وجهٍ يبتَذَلْ

I am indeed ashamed before noble virtues to see

I am too shy before generosity to see

wealth safeguarded while a noble face is debased.

Wealth that is protected and free faces that are debased
