مَزَجْتُ خمرة عينيها بريقتها

مَزَجْتُ خمرة عينيها بريقتها

كيما تُكفكف عني من حُمَيَّاها

كيما تُكفكف عني من حُمَيَّاها

I mixed the wine of her eyes with her saliva,

I mixed the wine of her eyes with their glimmer

to ease some of its intoxicating heat for me.

So it would quench for me their fever's blaze

فاشتدَّ إسكارها إيايَ إذ مُزِجَتْ

فاشتدَّ إسكارها إيايَ إذ مُزِجَتْ

ومزجُك الكأسَ ينفي عنك طغياها

ومزجُك الكأسَ ينفي عنك طغياها

Yet its power to intoxicate me grew stronger when mixed,

Yet when mixed, its inebriation upon me grew stronger

while mixing your cup spares you its overpowering force.

While your mixing of the cup makes its excess fade away
