I and the boys spent the night sleepless,
The children lie awake weeping
Because of a hoarse voice that kept frightening us.
In fright from the roar that terrifies us

بكل شيء وليس ينفعنا
We try to coax sleep to come to us,
We try to sleep so it will come upon us
By every means, yet nothing helps us.
With everything though it does not avail us

May God not protect that singer:
May God not let that be heard
She makes us hear what listeners loathe.
