هذا مقامٌ يا بني وائل

هذا مقامٌ يا بني وائل

من مستجيرٍ بكُمُ عائذِ

من مستجيرٍ بكُمُ عائذِ

Here stands, O sons of Wa'il,

This is a refuge, O sons of Wail,

one seeking your protection and refuge.

For one seeking protection with you, a fugitive,

أنشب فيه الدهرُ أظفاره

أنشب فيه الدهرُ أظفاره

وعضَّه بالناب والناجذِ

وعضَّه بالناب والناجذِ

Time has sunk its claws into him

In which fate has sunk its claws,

and bitten him with fang and molar.

And bitten it with fang and grinder.

فأنصفوا منه أخا حرمةٍ

فأنصفوا منه أخا حرمةٍ

لاذ بكم منه مع اللائذِ

لاذ بكم منه مع اللائذِ

So grant redress against it to one entitled to respect,

So do justice for a brother under your protection,

who sought refuge with you from it, alongside those seeking refuge.

Who has sought refuge with you, along with the seekers of refuge,

فما أرى الدهر على حكمه

فما أرى الدهر على حكمه

يخرج من حكمكُمُ النافذِ

يخرج من حكمكُمُ النافذِ

For I do not think Time, for all its sway,

For I do not see that fate, in its judgment,

can escape your binding judgment.

Will contravene your decisive judgment.
