يا سليباً من الملا

O you stripped of charm,
Of beauty, charm and delight!

مُزِجَwas mixed القبحُugliness كلُّهُall of it

فيكin you بالمقْتwith loathing فامْتَزَجْand so blended

In you—loathsome, repugnant!

You have a face that melts, through loathing

At its likes, no eyelid brightens
ماnot بِأمثالهof its like يُبَشـis given glad tidings (first part)

ـشَرُ جفنٌ إذا اختلَجْ
Such a face brings no glad tidings

O questioner! At daybreak
أيهاO you السائليwho asks me بهabout him
أيها السائلي به
وضَحَbecame clear الصُّبحُdawn فانبلَجْand so broke bright
وضَحَ الصُّبحُ فانبلَجْ
O you who ask me about him,
Dawn shone bright. Have no fear!
dawn has become clear and broken bright.
He is like the sea—so describe him
هوhe كالبحرlike the sea حَدِّثِtell الـthe (word begins)
هو كالبحر حَدِّثِ الـ
