اللَّه يعلمُ أنني

اللَّه يعلمُ أنني

يا سيدي أحيا بِقربِكْ

يا سيدي أحيا بِقربِكْ

God knows that I,

God knows that I,

O my lord, live through nearness to you,

My Lord, live by your nearness

كَمِدٌ على ما فات منْـ

كَمِدٌ على ما فات منْـ

ـك فلا بُليتَ بيوم عَتبِكْ

ـك فلا بُليتَ بيوم عَتبِكْ

Grief-stricken over what I have missed from—

Dependent on what has passed from you

you; so may you never be afflicted by a day of your reproach.

So I was not afflicted by a day of your reproach

وهواك شغلي عن سوا

وهواك شغلي عن سوا

كَ فليتني من شغل قلبِكْ

كَ فليتني من شغل قلبِكْ

And love for you occupies me to the exclusion of all but—

And your love preoccupied me from another

you; if only I were among your heart’s concerns.
