Daughter of Al-Wail and whim of anklet

Late at night above a carefree breast;

End of night above an empty chest

ولمن تَيَّمتْهُ وسواسُ هَمٍّ

سائرَ الليلِ تحتَ صدرٍ شجيِّ

And for the one she has enthralled, the whisper of worry,

And for whom has worried the whim of sorrow

All night long beneath a sorrowful breast.
