قدindeed جرىhas proceeded الغيثُthe rain علىaccording to عاداتهits customary ways
قد جرى الغيثُ على عاداته
فيin الموافاةarriving إذاwhenever وافيتَناyou come to us
في الموافاة إذا وافيتَنا
The rain has followed its accustomed ways
In arriving whenever you come to us.
طالlong has it been ماthat عافيتناyou have spared us منfrom فقدهits absence
طال ما عافيتنا من فقده
وبإذنand by permission of اللهGod ماthat عافيتناyou have spared us
وبإذن الله ما عافيتنا
Long have you spared us from going without it,
And it is by God's leave that you have spared us.
قلتُI said للغيثto the rain لقدindeed صافيتناyou have sincerely befriended us
قلتُ للغيث لقد صافيتنا
بأبيthrough Abu الصقرal-Saqr (the falcon) وماand not جافيتناyou have shunned us
بأبي الصقر وما جافيتنا
I said to the rain, "You have truly befriended us
Through Abu al-Saqr, and have not shunned us;
وبماand through what أعداكَهُhe has passed it on to you منof فضلهhis bounty
وبما أعداكَهُ من فضله
وتواليand the continuance of برّهِhis kindness صافيتناyou have sincerely befriended us
وتوالي برّهِ صافيتنا
And through the bounty he has passed on to you
And his continual kindness, you have truly befriended us."
