  1. ومدامة كدم الذبيح شربتها

    والبدر يجنح من خلال المشرقِ

    And I drank wine like the blood of the slaughtered,

    while the full moon leaned out through the eastern horizon.

  2. وكأنما زهر الكواكب حوله

    درر نثرن على بساط أزرقِ

    And it was as though the bright stars around it

    were pearls scattered upon a blue carpet.
