The eye plucks apples from your cheeks,

and your mouth pours forth musk and wine.

At dawn you are a sun to the sun, never setting,

in beauty, just as at evening you are a moon and a lamp.

May God not torment that face of yours, even though

you have tormented bodies and souls through abandonment.

O you who shut every door through which relief might reach me,

you have left sickness a key within my entrails.
