ورأيه في نفسه أَنْفَذُ

ورأيه في نفسه أَنْفَذُ

I saw in the fool what cannot be seen;

Yet his opinion of himself goes further still.

إذا تذكرتُ مديحي له

إذا تذكرتُ مديحي له

حسبته من كبدي يُفلَذُ

حسبته من كبدي يُفلَذُ

Whenever I recall my praise of him,

I imagine it being sliced from my liver.
