صِلُواJoin نِصْفَhalf كنيتهhis kunya باسمهto his name
صِلُوا نِصْفَ كنيته باسمه
إذاwhen اجتمعاthe two come together وانظرواand see ماwhat هماthey both are
إذا اجتمعا وانظروا ما هما
Join half his kunya to his name;
When they come together, see what they are:
هماthe two عبدُa slave سوءwickedness إذwhen أُلِّفاthey are combined
هما عبدُ سوء إذ أُلِّفا
يوافِقُmatches معناهhis nature معناهُماtheir meaning
يوافِقُ معناه معناهُما
Combined, they are “a wicked slave”;
His nature matches the meaning of the two.
