    Have you not seen me take, instead of my companions,

    whenever I faced the close-locked press of battle,

    a sword, keen-cutting on both edges, as though

    it were severing wrists at armored warriors’ waists?

    لها لمحاتٌ يَخْتَطِفْنَ الجماجما

    Within it, lightning flashes wink at those who watch;

    their fleeting gleams snatch away skulls.

    Through it I am called an indomitable warrior in battle,

    and through me it is called a keen blade that day.
