Shame on time, when it mixes

my sincerity with something else!

قوت يا قلةَ خيرِهْ

قوت يا قلةَ خيرِهْ

What would it cost it to provide my

sustenance? How scant its goodness!

لِتروْا مني وليّاً

لِتروْا مني وليّاً

رأيُكم أفضل مَيْره

رأيُكم أفضل مَيْره

So you might see in me a loyal friend,

your regard his finest provision;

وبشيرٌ بلقاءٍ

وبشيرٌ بلقاءٍ

منكُمُ أيمنُ طيرِه

منكُمُ أيمنُ طيرِه

and a herald of a meeting

with you would be his most auspicious omen.

يملأ الآفاق من إس

يملأ الآفاق من إس

دائه فيكم ونَيْره

دائه فيكم ونَيْره

Filling the horizons with the warp

and weft he weaves for you

سائر المدح وإن كا

سائر المدح وإن كا

ن بكم إغذاذُ سيره

ن بكم إغذاذُ سيره

is far-travelling praise, though

you lend its journey speed.
