O Time, how often you smelt the already refined

    among human souls and bodies!

Turn to those whose water is murkiest,

and purify them, with no blame upon you.

for he is the sanctuary of generosity and learning.

And turn aside from the lofty house of Wahb,

possessors of abundant bounty and forbearance.

And leave no one who wrongs them

save as a cast-off wreck with unending wounds.

Men of singular eminence, whose edifices are built

    with bounty that embraces all.

Clear-skied, yet asked for rain in torrents,

for they are life-giving rains without clouds.

They poured out bounty, their horizons clear,

with not a trace of murk upon them.

All the radiant stars you could wish for,

    and rain-bringers, and missiles.
