    فليس ذاك العِلقُ من بالهِ

    Do not offer Abu Ahmad praise for sale;

    for that treasure is not on his mind.

    A man—if you seek a kindness from him,

    you lay upon him his heaviest burden.

    He delights in his newly acquired wealth,

    and is attached to his long-held wealth.

    So there is no hope of a share in either kind of his wealth

    when one of his petitioners approaches him.

    يوماً لكي يُجزَى بأفعاله

    May God make him dependent on someone like himself

    one day, so that he may be repaid for his deeds;

    and may He leave fewer like him among the living,

    and add more like him to the dead.
