يُهنَّأُare congratulated بالإِفطارon breaking the fast قومٌsome people لأنهمْbecause they
يُهنَّأُ بالإِفطار قومٌ لأنهمْ
تأتَّىbecame available لهمto them قبلَbefore العَشاءِsupper غَداءُa midday meal
تأتَّى لهم قبلَ العَشاءِ غَداءُ
Some people are congratulated on breaking the fast because
a midday meal has become available to them before supper.
وأماand as for عليُّʿAlī ذوpossessor of العلاlofty rank فلأنهُit is because he
وأما عليُّ ذو العلا فلأنهُ
أطاعَbecame compliant لهwith him الإطعامُfeeding others كيفhowever يشاءُhe wishes
أطاعَ له الإطعامُ كيف يشاءُ
But as for ʿAlī of lofty rank, it is because
feeding others is at his command, however he wishes.
وماand not فاتهescaped him فيduring الصومِfasting فِطْرٌbreaking the fast لأنهٌbecause he
وما فاته في الصومِ فِطْرٌ لأنهٌ
مُدارِسُone who studies علمٍknowledge والدِّارسُand study غذاءُnourishment
مُدارِسُ علمٍ والدِّارسُ غذاءُ
He misses no breaking of the fast while fasting, for
he studies knowledge, and study is nourishment.
ولاnor فاتهُescaped him فيduring الفطرbreaking the fast صومٌfasting لأنهُbecause he
ولا فاتهُ في الفطر صومٌ لأنهُ
مواصِلُone who continues صومٍa fast عُقْبَتاهُhis two alternating turns سَواءُalike
مواصِلُ صومٍ عُقْبَتاهُ سَواءُ
Nor does he miss fasting when breaking the fast, for
he fasts unceasingly, his two alternating states alike.
هنيئاًmay it bring delight لهto him إفطارُهُhis breaking of the fast وصيامُهُand his fasting
هنيئاً له إفطارُهُ وصيامُهُ
هنيئاًmay it bring delight ومنand from بعدafter الهناءِdelight مَراءُeasy digestion
هنيئاً ومن بعد الهناءِ مَراءُ
May his breaking of the fast and his fasting bring him delight—
delight, and after delight, easy digestion!
بحقِّكas befits you أمطرتَyou have rained upon الورىhumankind وبحقهمْand as befits them
بحقِّك أمطرتَ الورى وبحقهمْ
لأنهُمُbecause they أرضٌearth وأنتَand you سماءُsky
لأنهُمُ أرضٌ وأنتَ سماءُ
As befits you, you have rained upon humankind—and as befits them,
for they are earth, and you are sky.
