ربِّ أطلق يدي في كلِّ شيخ

ذي رياء بسمتِهِ فسكونِهْ

ذي رياء بسمتِهِ فسكونِهْ

Lord, loose my hand against every old man

hypocritical in his bearing and his stillness;

تاجرٍ فاجرٍ جَموعٍ منوعٍ

تاجرٍ فاجرٍ جَموعٍ منوعٍ

يرهقُ الناسَ في اقتضاءِ ديونِهْ

يرهقُ الناسَ في اقتضاءِ ديونِهْ

a depraved merchant, forever hoarding and withholding,

who hounds people when collecting debts owed him;

ذي عيالٍ زبونُهنَّ من النا

ذي عيالٍ زبونُهنَّ من النا

كة بعدَ الهُدوّ مثلُ زبونه

كة بعدَ الهُدوّ مثلُ زبونه

with womenfolk whose customer among those

who fuck, after all is still, is like his own customer.

جمع المال بالعدالة في الظْا

جمع المال بالعدالة في الظْا

هرِ والموبقاتِ من مكنونه

هرِ والموبقاتِ من مكنونه

He amassed wealth through uprightness on the

surface, and through damning sins kept hidden within him.

في قَلَنْساتِهِ من القُطن ما يم

في قَلَنْساتِهِ من القُطن ما يم

لأ عِدلاً يُخال من عُثنونه

لأ عِدلاً يُخال من عُثنونه

In his caps is enough cotton to

fill a sack—one might think it came from his beard;

ذاتُ جنبين وافرين عظيمي

ذاتُ جنبين وافرين عظيمي

ن وسَمكٍ أطالهُ لقرونه

ن وسَمكٍ أطالهُ لقرونه

they have two ample, enormous sides

and a height he increased for his horns.

يخزنُ الإرثَ دائباً لمجيدٍ

يخزنُ الإرثَ دائباً لمجيدٍ

فَضّ أبكاره وإفضاءَ عُونه

فَضّ أبكاره وإفضاءَ عُونه

He tirelessly hoards the inheritance for one adept

at deflowering his virgins and tearing open his matrons.
