وتُسْلينيَand console me الأيامُthe days لاnot أنَّthat لوعتيmy anguish
وتُسْلينيَ الأيامُ لا أنَّ لوعتي
ولاnor حَزَنيmy grief كالشيءlike a thing يُنْسىis forgotten فَيَعْزُبُand so slips from memory
ولا حَزَني كالشيء يُنْسى فَيَعْزُبُ
And the days console me—not because my anguish
or my grief is like a thing forgotten and lost from mind,
ولكنْbut كَفانيhas sufficed for me مُسْلياًconsoling ومُعزِّياًand comforting
ولكنْ كَفاني مُسْلياً ومُعزِّياً
بأنْby the fact that المدىthe distance بينيbetween me وبينكand between you يقربُgrows nearer
بأنْ المدى بيني وبينك يقربُ
but this has sufficed to console and comfort me:
that the distance between me and you grows shorter.
