لاnot يقبلhe accepts الشُّورىcounsel منَfrom اَصْدقائِهِhis friends
Abu al-Husayn is enamored of his own opinion.
Abu Al-Hussein is impressed by his own purity
He accepts no counsel from his friends.
He does not accept advice from his friends
فلعنةso a curse اللَّهِof God علىupon إخائِهِhis friendship
وأَدْخَلَand may He thrust الأجردَthe bare shaft (penis) فيinto وَجْعَائِهِhis anus
So may God's curse fall upon his friendship,
So may the curse of Allah be upon his brotherhood
And may He thrust the bare shaft into his anus!
And he has inflicted distress upon the unarmed
يسبحhe swims فيin الجهلignorance وفيand in طَخْيائِهِits darkness
وهوand he لدىamong الإخوانthe brethren منthrough جفائِهِhis harshness
He swims in ignorance and in its darkness.
He swims in ignorance and in his vanity
And he, among his brethren, through his harshness,
And to his brethren he is unkind
ومِنْand through تَعَدِّيهhis transgression ومنand through إلوائِهِhis withholding
بالحقof what is due إذwhen جَارَhe acted unjustly علىtoward أعدائِهِhis enemies
And through his transgression and his withholding
Because of his transgression and his deviations
Of what is due, when he wronged his enemies.
He has wronged his enemies in the name of truth
I beat him at gambling الفرخَthe chick علىdespite ضُغائهhis squealing
فماyet not يفيhe honors his pledge وكِعْتُand I shrank back عنfrom دوائِهِcuring him
I won the chick from him in a wager, despite his squealing.
I have picked his feathers because of his resentments
Yet he will not honor his pledge, and I have shrunk from curing him.
But I cannot heal what ails him
إنَّindeed البخيلthe miser ميتٌdead بدائِهِfrom his disease
وأمرُهُand his affairs كلٌّall إلىtoward ورائِهِbehind him
Indeed, the miser is dead of his disease.
Surely the miser is dead in his sickness
And all his affairs move backward.
And his affairs are all behind him
لكننيbut I أفرِطgo to excess فيin اقتضائِهِdemanding payment from him
وأَستخيرand I seek guidance from اللَّهGod فيabout إقصائِهِcasting him off
But I go too far in demanding payment from him.
But I exceed in my demands of him
And I seek God's guidance about casting him off.
And I ask Allah to cast him out
