ولقدand indeed سئمتُI have grown weary of مآربيmy desires
ولقد سئمتُ مآربي
فكأنَّso it is as though طيِّبَهاtheir pleasantness خَبِيثْfoul
فكأنَّ طيِّبَها خَبِيثْ
And indeed I have grown weary of my desires,
I have wearied of my desires

As though what seemed wholesome therein was unwholesome.
إلاexcept الحديثconversation فإنهُfor it
إلا الحديث فإنهُ
مثلُlike اسمهits name أبداًever حديثْnew
مثلُ اسمه أبداً حديثْ

Except for talk, for verily it
Like its name, is ever new.
Is, like its name, ever fresh.
