And a meadow that delights pasture-seekers, its hillocks swaying,
With lanterns swaying and travellers thronging its heights
A night traveler, a morning traveler, and an evening traveler vie with it in beauty.
The hillside is visited at eve and dawn.

Whenever morning lifts its head, there blaze
It has a charm whose lights, the farther seen,
Lamps that flare when other lamps die down.
The more they tempt and dazzle as they dawn.

Its blossoms laugh with its flowers;
Its blossoms smile from afar to greet the bee;
Its fragrance wafts in the perfume-bearing breeze.
A wafting fragrance breathes from where they throng.

When the careworn, in his deep sigh, draws it
When by his cares oppressed the seeker climbs
Into his heart, the ribs spread wide around it.
To visit it, down droop on him its boughs.

I read people's praise as an omen, then sought him out,
I shunned men's praises and escaped their blame.
And neither a rightward- nor a leftward-passing bird stirred doubts in me.
My censurers now no more afflict my ears.
