جازتit extended beyond بشبرby a handspan مشَكَّthe fastening of منطقتِهْhis belt
جازت بشبر مشَكَّ منطقتِهْ
And a fool has a thing upon his chest,
Soft curves above his chest, a beauty
Extending a handspan beyond the fastening of his belt.
That passed, bound with a perfumed sash.
إذاwhen أرادhe desires الكرىslumber توسدهاhe uses it as a pillow
إذا أراد الكرى توسدها
فقدfor indeed كفتهit has sufficed him مكانin place of مرفقتهhis cushion
فقد كفته مكان مرفقته
When he desires slumber, he uses it as a pillow,
When he wished to rest his head upon her
For it serves him in place of his cushion.
His hand sufficed instead of her elbow.
علامةthe sign of الفسقdepravity طولthe length of لحيتهhis beard
علامة الفسق طول لحيته
وآيةand the mark of الفحلthe bull camel طولthe length of شقشقتهits palatal sac
وآية الفحل طول شقشقته
The sign of depravity is the length of his beard,
The mark of villainy is the length of his beard,
And the mark of a bull camel is the length of its palatal sac.
The sign of virility is the length of his forelock.
